Tennessee Vols transfer linebacker Jalen Smith is reportedly visiting an SEC rival this week.
According to On3, Smith, who was a redshirt freshman in 2024, is visiting Auburn on Wednesday.
Smith, 6-foot-2/230 lbs from Grayson, GA, is a former four-star recruit who was rated as the No. 36 linebacker in the nation coming out of high school.
The Georgia native didn't see much playing time as a true freshman in 2023, seeing action mostly on special teams.
Smith saw his role expand in 2024 as he totaled 34 tackles and two tackles for loss in 12 games. His best game came in Tennessee's win against Kentucky in November when the linebacker totaled nine tackles while playing 34 snaps. Smith was the Vols' highest graded linebacker (78.3 per Pro Football Focus) in Tennessee's win against the Wildcats.
It came as a bit of a surprise when Smith entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month. He's a player that likely would've seen some action for the Vols in the College Football Playoff, though he wasn't in line to make any starts.
Smith has three season of eligibility remaining.
