Former Tennessee Vols QB named as a candidate to serve as Bill Belichick’s offensive coordinator at North Carolina
A former Tennessee Vols quarterback could be an option to join Bill Belichick’s staff at North Carolina.
A former Tennessee Vols quarterback was named this week as a potential candidate to take over as Bill Belichick’s offensive coordinator at North Carolina.
The Tar Heels parted ways with offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens last week after North Carolina finished with the No. 68 scoring offense in the nation.
Former Tennessee QB Bo Hardegree named as an offensive coordinator candidate for North Carolina
On3’s Pete Nakos named former Vols quarterback Bo Hardegree as an offensive coordinator option for Belichick and the Tar Heels.
Hardegree, who played at Tennessee in the mid 2000s, has served as the Tennessee Titans’ quarterbacks coach since 2024 (he took over as the Titans’ interim play-caller earlier this season).
The former Vols quarterback served as an offensive assistant for the New England Patriots in 2021 under Belichick.
“A former New England Patriots assistant with Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels, Bo Hardegree in his second season with the Titans and his 12th season coaching in the NFL,” wrote Nakos. “He was hired in 2024 after spending two campaigns (2022-23) with the Las Vegas Raiders. A Tennessee native and University of Tennessee product, Hardegree arrived at the Titans with 16 total years of coaching experience.”
Hardegree hasn’t coached in college since 2013, when he was a coaching intern at LSU. It seems likely that he’ll prioritize opportunities in the NFL after this season over opportunities in college.
