On Monday, I wrote that the Tennessee Vols are showing interest in Mitchell Agude, an edge rusher from UCLA who recently entered the NCAA transfer portal.
It appears the interest from Tennessee is being reciprocated by Agude.
On Tuesday night, Agude revealed his top four programs. He included the Volunteers, along with Miami, Oregon, and Washington.
Agude is a former three-star recruit who posted solid numbers the last two seasons with the Bruins. The California native compiled 78 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four passes defended, and seven forced fumbles over the last two years.
The Vols have some talent at the EDGE rusher position — Tyler Baron and Byron Young are the big names there. But adding Agude would give Tennessee some much-needed depth.
Now, don't take the usage of the word "depth" here as a bad thing. Agude is right there with Baron and Young in terms of talent. If he lands at Tennessee, he'd instantly be part of that rotation, which would allow the Vols to rotate pass rushers more during the course of a game without a dropoff.
Tennessee has a bigger need right now in the secondary and at inside linebacker. But that doesn't mean they should ignore a player like Agude who could instantly make a big impact if he transfers to UT.
