The Georgia Bulldogs defense is going into Saturday’s matchup against the Tennessee Vols with a specific goal in mind.

And if the Bulldogs achieve it, they’ll likely leave Neyland Stadium with a win.

Georgia redshirt freshman defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye joined The Players Lounge this week and he revealed that the goal against Tennessee is to generate three turnovers.

“The first thing on my mind is getting three turnovers,” said Jonah-Ajonye. “That’s something Coach Schu (UGA defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann) and the whole defensive staff is really stressing. Getting a bunch of turnovers, punching at the ball.”

Tennessee’s running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, and quarterback Joey Aguilar will need to prioritize ball security on Saturday against the Bulldogs. It’s clear from Jonah-Ajonye’s comments that Georgia’s defenders are going to be punching at the ball. The Vols can’t afford to put the ball on the ground in this game — specifically in the red zone.

Ball security is always important, but it’ll be especially important against this talented Georgia defense.

Joseph Jonah-Ajonye is looking forward to playing in a road environment against Tennessee

Jonah-Ajonye also noted that he’s excited to play on the road against the Volunteers, suggesting that he likes away games better than home games.

“I’m looking forward to the energy of the fan base, because that kind of like wakes me up a little bit,” explained Jonah-Ajonye. “I’ll feed off it. I like the adversity….I love away games.”

Road environments aren’t as tough on defenses as they are on offenses. But it’ll still be a hostile environment for Georgia’s defense.

The Vols and the Bulldogs are set to kick off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
