Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested over the weekend on a charge of domestic violence. Judkins is one of 30 second-round picks still unsigned across the league. The second-round holdout continues, with only two players having signed fully guaranteed deals.
Dylan Sampson potentially poised to take advantage of early reps
Sampson profiles as a change-of-pace back to Judkins, bringing more quickness and a smaller frame. If Judkins is unable to practice at the start of training camp due to his contract status, Sampson could be splitting early touches with Browns running back Jerome Ford.
The former Vol could also be in line for a heavier workload to start the season if Judkins is suspended due to the off-field issue. Even if the criminal case is resolved, Judkins could still face league discipline for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Sampson was a star catalyst for Tennessee’s offense last season, rushing for just under 1,500 yards. The Browns rookie has landed in a situation where he’ll have a real chance to contribute early—perhaps even more than expected for a fourth-round pick.
