The Tennessee Vols started New Mexico State game week with some bad news that was expected
The Tennessee Vols kicked off the week with some not-so-great recruiting news.
The Tennessee Vols kicked off New Mexico State game week with some expected bad news.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, 2026 four-star athlete/wide receiver Legend Bey flipped his commitment from Tennessee to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday.
Bey, 5-11, 175 pounds from Forney, TX, had been committed to Tennessee since late June. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 24 athlete in the nation and the No. 50 player in the state of Texas.
Why did Legend Bey flip from Tennessee to Ohio State?
Bey told On3 that Ohio State made “so much sense” for him.
Vols fans started getting nervous about Bey’s status with the Vols following the four-star recruit’s visit to Columbus earlier this month for Ohio State’s win over Penn State.
“Ohio State is in consideration,” said Bey to On3 following the visit. “They have an amazing plan for me and want me to play as a freshman….Ohio State is a huge factor in my recruitment. They have QB and wildcat packages for me and want to develop me! Not only does this visit have me considering them, but I love my relationships with the coaching staff.”
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel attended Bey’s football game last week, but that apparently wasn’t enough to keep the dynamic recruit committed to the Vols.
