A key Tennessee Vols starter reportedly suffered an injury in spring football practice
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to get through spring practice without too many bumps and bruises.
A key Tennessee Vols starter reportedly suffered an injury this week during spring practice.
According to a report from VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs, senior defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs suffered a foot injury in practice.
The injury will keep Hobbs out for the rest of spring practice, according to Hubbs.
Daevin Hobbs has been bothered by injuries throughout his Tennessee career
Hobbs missed the first five games of the 2025 season while dealing with a foot injury that he suffered during fall camp.
The North Carolina native has dealt with numerous injuries during his career on Rocky Top, which has slowed his development.
“He’s a long, athletic kid that can bend, that can really run and burst,” said Vols defensive line coach Rodney Garner last August when asked about Hobbs. “The things that you really want and wish for Hobbs — he’s been stunted from a power and explosiveness [standpoint] over two offseasons because of shoulder surgeries. You sit there, I’ve always wondered, ‘What if?’
“What would he be had he had those two offseasons? What would he be right now? But he’s a very talented guy. We need for him to take that next step. So far at camp, he’s done a really good job.”
Hobbs totaled 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks in eight games last season.
The former four-star recruit has a high ceiling — he just needs to find a way to stay healthy. The good news for Hobbs, though, is that he has a little over four months to recover before fall camp starts.
