Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello is a big fan of legendary UT quarterback Peyton Manning.

I mean, who isn't?

Vitello's fandom of Peyton, however, didn't stop him from praising current Vols head coach Josh Heupel on Saturday at the expense of Manning.

Heupel threw out the first pitch before Tennessee's matchup against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday.

And it was a perfect strike.

After the game, Vitello commented on Heupel's first pitch.

"It was a strike, which isn't easy, because Kirby Connell is definitely not a professional catcher," said Vitello. "So he's got one up on Peyton Manning right there. If I can say that.”

Peyton threw out the first pitch before a Tennessee game in 2021. And it was a pretty good first pitch, but he bounced the ball just short.

That was better than Peyton's first pitch at the MLB All-Star game last summer.

I guess Heupel has a leg up on Peyton in a couple of areas — first pitches and national championships.
