Depth can be a blessing and a curse. And for the New Orleans Saints, it appears to be the latter.
At the tight end position, New Orleans is shopping around veteran tight end Nick Vannett to assuage depth issues, according to Pro Football Focus insider Doug Kyed.
Kyed has spoken to various teams around the NFL, and most of them see Vannett as the odd man out in New Orleans' tight end situation.
The Saints appear confident in Taysom Hill, Adam Trautman, and Juwan Johnson, meaning it makes sense to part ways with Vannett.
If New Orleans does move on from Vannett, the organization could recoup as much as $3 million against the cap.
Though New Orleans doesn't need the cap space — it owns $11 million in cap room — extra wiggle room around the edges can't hurt.
With the 53-man rosters due soon, expect New Orleans to make a decision regarding the veteran blocking tight end.
