Pros of Kamari Ramsey
- Quick trigger when attacking the route, an “eyes-up” mentality with the ability to alwyas keep tabs on the quarterback.
- Possesses versatility to play other positions outside of safety. Ramsey started five games in 2025 with the Trojans at nickel.
- Incredibly fluid mover, does not struggle to change gears heading both up field and downfield. Smooth in his strides to turn make last second decisions and adjustments when reading the quarterbacks eyes and movements.
Cons of Kamari Ramsey
- Very poor run defender, Ramsey recorded only two run stops and just 20 total tackles in all of 2025.
- Despite playing nickel out of necessity for USC in 2025, his ability to cover in man is still questionable. Receivers were able to create decent separation in one on one matchups.
- Incredibly raw when it comes to tackling technique. Ramsey recorded 15 missed tackles in 2024, playing only as a two-high safety. That number dropped to one, albeit playing a majority at the nickel.
Background
A former four star, Ramsey spent his first two years at UCLA, including a redshirt year before becoming a full time starter. He then transferred to USC in 2024, starting in all 10 games he was healthy for. Ramsey then filled in the gap at nickel for the Trojans in 2025, starting half his games this year at that inside position.
Player Evaluation
The fact that Kamari Ramsey played some at nickel in 2025 should not deter teams from viewing him as a true safety at the next level with some versatile upside. Ramsey’s bread and butter is diagnosing the quarterbacks eyes and using his lightning quick trigger to attack the route and make a play on the football. He still needs to work quite a bit in the run defense area of his game, but his coverage ability alone should make him an intriguing options for teams needy on the back end.
