Perhaps the biggest regular season matchup of 2024 is set this weekend when the (2) Georgia Bulldogs travel to take on the (4) Alabama Crimson Tide. This marks the first time since 2007 that Alabama is a home underdog, and it promises to be a battle with a lot of storylines. Obviously from the general landscape of the college football season, but also for the 2025 NFL Draft class.

The EDGE class in 2025 is a group that has almost unreal upside, but hasn’t quite developed as one might have hoped this season. This game against Georgia and Alabama includes two talented EDGE prospects, one who can help to bolster the 2025 group, and the other that fans need to get acquainted with for the future.

For the Bulldogs, junior Mykel Williams has spent a lot of time in the top tens of 2025 NFL mock drafts the last few months. The 6-5, 265-pound defender has been dealing with an ankle injury since their opening season victory over Clemson, and hasn’t played since then. Here is what head coach Kirby Smart had to say about his availability.

"Mykel's been able to do a little bit. I still don't know his timeline. He was able to get out there and run around and he was able to get some reps today."

Obviously getting Williams back would be huge for the Bulldogs, but it is unsure of whether he will be able to play or not. Williams’ combination of size, power, and explosiveness is sure to get him drafted very highly come April. Still, there is a lot on the line for Williams.

We know that Williams is really talented. His body type and length initially pops on film. He is also an outstanding mover at his size. The question surrounds his ability to win the outside track, something he hasn’t been asked to do.

If he returns, he will have a crack at an Alabama offensive line that has gotten better. This could be a resume building game, and one that NFL scouts will be evaluating closely.

On the Alabama side, they have a potential high draft selection in the 2026 NFL Draft with Qua Russaw. A former highly touted recruit, we have seen No. 4 flash so far this season. Russaw has also been dealing with a lower leg injury, and is questionable for this game. Head coach Kalen DeBoer commented on his availability this week.

"With Qua, still taking the steps, still working through his situation. I’m optimistic with Qua. We’ll just have to see as we evaluate throughout the week."

From a talent perspective, it’s all there. A game for an underclassmen isn’t going to make or break his draft stock but seeing him against this Georgia team would still be fun to see. If available, he has a chance to flash his high end traits.

The Georgia offensive tackle group also hasn’t played overly well so far this season. Having someone like Russaw healthy, combined with LT Overton, could make for a long day from quarterback Carson Beck.
