Following along with the NFL Combine is always a lot of fun. There's all the spicy comments from podiums, the weigh-ins and measurements that can sometimes surprise, and of course the forty-yard dashes in spandex that everyone loves. But when the dust settles at the end of each day, how can we really tell who "won" and helped their draft stock?

The best way? Create a custom Athletic Composite score that pulls together 20+ years of historical NFL Combine data, analyzes the results of this group of incoming prospects, and assigns a singular percentile score for a player's athleticism.

Or at least that's what we did here at A to Z Sports. As you can see in my post below, here were the top performances among quarterbacks at the NFL Combine today according to the A to Z Sports Athletic Composite.

Kedon Slovis, QB BYU

Unfortunately half of the quarterbacks in attendance sat out just about every single on-field drill this year. However, that left ample opportunity for the other quarterbacks to showcase their athleticism. Kedon Slovis (somewhat surprisingly) did not disappoint.

Despite logging -259 (yes, negative 259) rushing yards on his career Kedon Slovis ran a 4.55-second forty-yard dash. At 223 pounds that's good for a 96th percentile Speed Score. Then his jumps were above average as well, coming in at the 64th percentile.

He didn't show off much in the throwing sessions, but his apparent athleticism should intrigue several teams.

80th Percentile Athletes

Joe Milton and J.J. McCarthy were other clear athletic winners at the NFL Combine on Saturday. J.J. McCarthy posted a 92nd percentile 3-cone time and an above average mark in the short shuttle. Milton launched one of his deep balls 73.5 yards in the air as you can see in this post below:

McCarthy has already been rising up mock draft boards in recent weeks, but his agility scores and solid throwing sessions should continue his ascension.

Milton always had tools, but his on-field performance at Michigan and Tennessee was spotty at best. If anything gets him drafted early it will be his absurd arm strength and 90th percentile burst in his lower half.

Best of the Rest

Michael Pratt showed great lower body burst jumping 36 inches in the vertical and 9'6" in the broad jump. He clearly possessed some sneaky athleticism in his time at Tulane so that wasn't surprising. Overall his Athletic Composite came in around the 75th percentile.

Austin Reed, Sam Hartman, and Spencer Rattler didn't exactly do themselves any favors via the NFL Combine testing. Hartman and Reed at least got around 4.8 seconds in the forty. The rest of the tests for this trio weren't great.

Rattler did test just barely above average in the vertical and threw pretty well in the on-field sessions. However, that shouldn't be enough to push him into early round capital alone.
