Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame

Height, Weight: 6-0, 186

Age: 20 years old (3/11/2024)

Strengths

  • Physical: While Morrison is ultra competitive, his physicality is a bit up and down due to below average play strength. He has flashes of good physicality with the football in the air.
  • Competitiveness: There is little question about the effort Morrison plays with. He will match blows with anyone, and will rarely ever back down from a challenge.
  • Ball Skills: Morrison possesses tremendous ball skills. He routinely gets his body in proper position, and finishes plays, including nine career interceptions and 18 pass breakups.
  • Man Coverage: Better in off coverage than in press. Morrison is really smooth, and doesn’t generally panic when put into trail position. Has just average change of direction to surrender some quick game at times.
  • Zone Coverage: Morrison plays with outstanding instincts. His eyes are routinely always in the right spot, and anticipated routes well. Excels in zone reps.
  • Upside: The floor is higher than the ceiling for Morrison. Has the requisite instincts and athletic profile to develop into a solid starter in the right scheme.

Areas of Improvement:

  • Play Strength: This is easily the biggest negative to Morrison’s game. His play strength woes generally show up most in the run game, but there are a lot of instances at the line of scrimmage as well.
  • Explosiveness: More smooth than explosive, Morrison isn’t at his best accelerating out of his pedal. He plays with nice control, and has solid hip mobility overall.

Evaluation

Morrison has some of the best instincts and competitiveness of any cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class. More smooth than overly explosive, Morrison checks a lot of boxes but doesn’t necessarily put an exclamation point in any one area. His play strength has to improve but he has enough movement skills to be a plus player in the passing game. There is some scheme dependence to Morrison’s game but he has starter upside in the right situation, and could demand a second round selection of the medicals check out.
