A silly thing NFL teams do during the scouting process could push one of the best players to the Lions in the 2025 NFL Draft

The NFL does a lot of silly stuff during the NFL Draft process. At times, it's like teams will look at every single thing that they can look at instead of what the player does on the field. Hand size? Like, who cares? Jared Goff's hands were supposedly too small, and that has not stopped him from being an MVP candidate.
Arm length is the other one. Aidan Hutchinson's knock was his arm length and that has not stopped him at all. Sometimes teams will play themselves and not draft a guy because he doesn't fit every metric they want him to fit. Then there are teams like the Lions who don't care about those metrics and only care about the ability to play and help the team.
"I don’t care what the arm length is of a specific player if he doesn’t play like how we need him to play, then it doesn’t fit.”
That was Brad Holmes back in January, essentially saying that a player could have the longest arms in the world, but if he's not good, then it doesn't matter.
That brings us to LSU tackle Will Campbell. Maybe you heard about all the arm length stuff last week. His arms measured in at 33 inches long. That's on the smaller side of these measurements, but it's basically the bare minimum for teams.
Going into the draft, Campbell has been expected to be the first offensive lineman to come off the board. That's changed a bit recently. Some new mocks have him falling out of the top 10.
If that fall continues and the Lions either get a shot at 28 or a shot to move up in the 20s, then it might be worth taking advantage of the other team's mistakes.
The Lions don't particularly need a tackle right away because they still have Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker, but here's a chance to get a guy who can replace Decker soon. Campbell is a strong option for the Lions in the first round. We'll see if he falls.
