NFL free agency is almost here, meaning players across the league with expiring contracts this offseason will have the option to test the open market for a new home.

Some restrictions exist for restricted or exclusive rights free agents. However, unrestricted free agents are free to do as they wish.

Those UFA players can begin negotiating with other clubs on March 11 at noon ET until the signing period closes on March 13 at 4 p.m. ET. 

A handful of former Georgia Bulldogs are on tap to become NFL free agents — 13 to be exact –– and we'll take a look at them below.

Herring and Cager are restricted free agents, which means these players have three accrued seasons and are allowed to negotiate and sign with other clubs, but their current teams have the option to match any offer before all is said and done. 

Ledbetter is the only former Bulldog who is an exclusive restricted rights free agent and has less than three accrued seasons. He is free to negotiate unless he receives a “qualifying offer" — aka a one-year contract extension from his current team. 

*Editor's Note: In order to accrue a season, a player must have played at least six regular-season games in a given season

Important NFL Free Agency Dates to Know

  • March 5 @ 4:00pm ET: Deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
  • March 11 @ 12:00pm ET: Legal tampering period begins, allowing players who will become unrestricted free agents to negotiate with other clubs.
  • March 13 @ 4:00pm ET: 2024 League Year and Free Agency signing period begins.
