Rashod Bateman’s third season with the Baltimore Ravens was slated to be a breakout one. Through eight games played this year, it has been more of the same from the former Minnesota standout.
Bateman has been far from a go-to option for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson this season. The former first-round pick has tallied 17 receptions for 180 receiving yards so far this year, and he is still without a receiving touchdown.
Injuries also marred the first half of Bateman’s 2023 campaign. For one, he dealt with a nagging hamstring injury in September, which forced him to sit out Baltimore’s Week 4 road matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Bateman is not in danger of falling in the Ravens' depth chart out at wide receiver, but the clock sure is ticking for him to soon emerge as an X-factor on offense.
The Ravens are at the least hopeful that they will soon see the best out of Bateman on the field. For one, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh believes that the wideout has what it takes to blossom in the second half of the season.
"I think the second half of the season for Rashod is going to be big [and] is going to be very successful," Harbaugh said during a press conference ahead of Week 9.
If Bateman can prove Harbaugh right in the coming months, it sure would add another dimension to Baltimore’s offense.
