The Baltimore Ravens got a very positive sign on the progress of wide receiver Rashod Bateman last week when he was activated off the PUP list.
Bateman was finally able to run for the first time during training camp practice and moved well while doing so. However, he wasn't present during the joint practice the Ravens had with the Washington Commanders.
Of course, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked if there was a hiccup in Bateman getting back to a full workload, and he quickly shut that notion down.
“No, there was no setback," said Harbaugh. "There’s a process. There’s a process to getting guys back. He’s on schedule.”
That's more than good news for the Ravens.
Bateman had high expectations placed on him as a first-round pick in 2021. But he's had to deal with a groin injury that cost him five games as a rookie and multiple foot injuries that forced him to miss 11 games last season.
When healthy, Bateman has been productive, and the potential for what he could eventually grow into as a receiver is clear. Now, it's just about getting back to full strength and staying there.
Ravens: Latest report bodes well for the return of former first-round pick
He’s getting close.
