Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has become a popular pick by many to win this year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. For former Super Bowl-winning cornerback Jason McCourty, he penciled in Flowers to win the honor even before the former Boston College standout donned a Ravens jersey for the first time.

During a recent airing of the NFL Network’s "Good Morning Football" program, McCourty shared that he has been on the Zay Flowers hype train since he watched the wideout shine during Boston College’s home matchup against Rutgers in the 2022 season.

"A year ago is when I picked my Offensive Rookie of the Year," McCourty said. "I was in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts watching a college game just out there to see my alma mater and next thing I know, there was this player on the other side who just was absolutely balling, 10 catches, 117 yards, two touchdowns in the college game. I'm like, 'Who is this kid, he can absolutely play, he needs to be in the NFL at some point.'

"That was Boston College's Zay Flowers, now he's a member of the Baltimore Ravens."

McCourty is expecting to see a productive rookie campaign from Flowers this season, especially as he sees that Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will be looking to get the wideout quite involved in the passing game.

"Quarterback Lamar Jackson will be looking for this guy to get the rock in his hands," McCourty said. "… We're going to see a lot of Zay Flowers. His teammates have already nicknamed him the 'Joystick.' … Great storyline and you talk about winning games, Baltimore is going to be good.

“They're going to be playing against a lot of good opponents in their division. I can't wait to watch Zay go off. Zay Flowers is my Offensive Rookie of the Year."

Flowers is set to make his NFL debut in the Ravens’ upcoming regular season home opener against the Houston Texans on Sept. 10.
