Josh Allen knows a little bit about offense. He knows what helps it work, he knows when it's right, and he knows how every nuance of an offense can impact the big picture. Plenty is made about his arm and what he's able to do through the air, and about the impact that newly-acquired receiver Amari Cooper can have on how this team goes in the second half of the season, but it's another aspect to the offense that Allen attributes their success to — the run game.

For Allen, who seems to echo the sentiments of his head coach, it all starts at the line of scrimmage and on the ground.

"Getting James [Cook] going, getting Ray Ray [Davis] going — obviously, Ty [Johnson] has been able to step in on third down and first and second down every once in a while — but I think our guys are running it well. Our line's opening up the holes well for them as well. And you know, it's vital for our offense. In terms of being able to move guys, create running lanes, our play action game, it's very much predicated on how well we can run the ball. We've been efficient in it, and we've got to keep doing it," Allen said.

The ground game might not looks as strong on paper, but they've been able to rely on it when it's needed the most. The Bills, as a team, are averaging 4.2 yards per carry, which ranks 19th in the league, but their 1.6 rushing touchdowns per game is third-best in the league.

In the past, it's been Allen putting his body on the line in the red zone, but Allen only has one rushing touchdown since Week 1. Cook and Davis, on the other hand, have combined for seven rushing touchdowns this season. Allen seems to really like what he's seen from the rookie running back so far this season, who apparently has a new nickname in the locker room – the stallion.

"He's an an old soul, I'll tell you that. He knows his football. He's been around a lot, actually, in college, went to three different schools, which is kind of the norm now, but you know, he's a team first guy that just wants to do whatever is asked of him, and he runs the ball extremely hard. He's very good in the duo and inside zone scheme. He's a one cut guy, low to the ground. He packs a punch, and he's very decisive in his running, and that's what I think makes him really good for this team."

Davis has been a perfect complement to Cook, and the ability for the Bills to have two running backs that they can count on has been a huge development for the offense.

The ground attack is instrumental to what this team does, and it will be huge in their upcoming matchup with a Seattle Seahawks team that has surrendered the fourth-highest rushing yards per attempt (5.0) and the fourth-highest rushing yards per game (146.1) Go punish them.
