The Buffalo Bills' offense took a huge step forward in 2025, largely because of their creativity, efficiency, and balanced approach. While MVP Josh Allen rightly gets plenty of praise, the Bills have one crucial player that doesn't get enough love in their system — sixth offensive lineman Alec Anderson. Yes, sixth.

The Bills deploy a sixth offensive lineman more than any other team in the NFL, with Anderson coming on as a crucial element, especially in their run game. Crucially for the success of their scheme, the Bills have figured out officially have Anderson back for next season after he signed his exclusive rights tender.

Last offseason, general manager Brandon Beane got deals done with both left and right tackles, Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown, before the season. Those deals look phenomenal right now, especially with Brown emerging into one of the best right tackles in the league.

Now with Anderson under contract, the Bills already have all five starters, plus Anderson, locked in and ready to go. That's an incredible benefit to the Bills building off last season.

In the 2024 season, the Bills' offensive line allowed the fewest sacks in the league, while also opening lanes for James Cook and the rest of the team to combine for the ninth-most rushing yards in the league. Keeping Allen clean while having a well-oiled ground game is certainly a good recipe, and Anderson was a crucial component to their success. Having the entire line locked up in February is a great place to be.
