Bills' head coach Sean McDermott apparently tried to tell the team that this is just another game. And on one hand, I get it. This isn't the end goal. This isn't the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are a team that has stood in the way of Buffalo reaching their end goals frequently in recent years, with Buffalo getting bounced from the playoffs by the Chiefs in three of the last four seasons, the last two in heartbreaking fashion.

McDermott's point is valid. The team, and the fans, shouldn't be making this game more than it is. But, on the other hand, beating the Chiefs 30-21 is a very, very big regular season win as well. Defensive end Von Miller apparently did not agree with McDermott's message about the significance of this win.

"We like to, you know, perceive our occupation or our job in the game as the tip of the spear," Miller said after the game about the defensive line. "You know, we're the first, the front line. We lead by example, and the team kind of goes how we go. The speech from Coach McDermott was like, 'it's just another game.' And, you know, '100 years from now, nobody's gonna remember it.' And we were like, 'fuck that. This is a big game. This is why we're here.' When the bright lights come on, we rise to the occasion. We don't need to sugar coat it to take the pressure off us. Pressure comes from within. And everybody in that defensive line room kind of rose to the occasion. And like I said, that's a special moment. And to be able to, you know, be optimistic and speak great things into existence, it's a wonderful feeling."

Von Miller showed up in this game and made his presence felt early. He logged multiple pressures, including a key sack on third and long in an obvious passing situation. With that sack, Miller passed his The moment is not being taken for granted by Miller.

"I'm just so proud of everybody, and I'm proud of myself too. It's a lot of stuff that I fought publicly and privately and, you know, to still be able to come out on top at 35 years old, playing in games like this, and still be able to contribute — I was sitting outside before I came in, and, you know, just so proud of myself being knocked down and still standing up and getting back up time and time again. So this is a crazy night, amazing night. It's not the Super Bowl, though. But you know, we're gonna celebrate this one for sure."

It's not the Super Bowl. The goals are still in front of this team, but as Miller went on to say later, it's hard to win in this league. It's important to celebrate the fruits of your labors. Fortunately for Buffalo, as they head into a bye week, they'll have a little extra time to sit back and soak this moment in before gearing up to host what will be a hungry San Francisco 49ers team in two weeks.
