The Buffalo Bills are just days away from their upcoming contest against the Baltimore Ravens. The talk of the town has been how this team will be able to compete on Sunday, with injuries piling up on both sides of the football in the team’s early injury reports.

Unfortunately, on Friday, the team announced that kicker Tyler Bass would be placed on injured reserve, forcing him out for at least the next four weeks while he recovers from a hip/groin injury.

Aside from Bass, Tre’Davious White was once again not able to practice, and his status for Sunday is doubtful.

Luckily, Brandon Beane and the front office did their due diligence in bringing in a kicker. On Thursday, they brought in veteran Matt Prater to the team’s practice squad, who had 18 years of NFL experience entering the 2025 season. In limited playing time in 2024, he was a perfect six of six on field goals while making all 10 of his extra point attempts.

Final injury report wasn’t all bad news

With Bass not practicing on Thursday, there were rumblings that he’d be unable to play in the contest. Sean McDermott, when speaking on WGR 550 on Friday morning, did not rule out White or Bass, but hours later, it was announced that Bass would be out.

The Bills Mafia is hoping for a speedy recovery and to get one of the Bills’ best franchise kickers back out on the field.

Not all the news was bad, though. On Thursday, Keon Coleman was listed as limited, but on Friday was a full participant and seems like he’ll be ready to go in the contest. Christian Benford, Elijah Moore, and Khalil Shakir rounded out the injury report with all of them being full participants.

Honestly, having Benford back at full health with multiple weapons on offense trending in the right direction, it’s a big win. It’s overshadowed by the significant loss to Bass for at least the next four weeks, though.

For White, if he’s unable to go for the game, Buffalo could be looking to slot in rookie cornerback Dorian Strong, who has flashed throughout the past few weeks, with defensive coordinator Bobby Babbich gushing over his development. Still, taking on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens while not at full strength is less than ideal.

Ravens are dealing with their own injuries ahead of Week 1

It’s not just Buffalo that is battling with injuries heading into the contest, as the Ravens have announced both Patrick Ricard and Isaiah Likely are out for the upcoming matchup. When you have a contest like this with two former MVPs duking it out, you want both teams to be at full health.

While it’s going to undoubtedly be a party in Western New York, as this is the final home-opener at Highmark, it’s a little bittersweet with the news about Bass.

Regardless, McDermott and the coaching staff are going to do everything in their power to make sure this team is ready to compete on Sunday. We won’t have to wait long — it’s almost time for some football.
