Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is one of the best running backs in all of football, period.

Cook was all smiles during his postgame interview, opening up on how the team mounted the comeback. We’re not used to seeing him this happy, but it’s hard not to smile when you defeat a divisional opponent when, at one point, the team was down 21 to nothing.

James Cook opens up on comeback against the Patriots

It was a tale of two halves. In the first one, Buffalo was getting beaten down. After halftime, the team came alive and dominated the second half from start to finish. Cook discussed the state of the locker room at halftime and what the team did.

“Nothing, we were normal,” Cook shared. “Like you said, man, we just told everybody don’t panic, man, and that’s what we did. Just stayed together and just kept fighting until the end.”

That’s the detail that led the Bills to an insane comeback. The team is experienced and tough enough to overcome difficult circumstances, and that’s exactly what happened in New England.

While the national media will discuss quarterback Josh Allen leading his team to a victory, Cook deserves his flowers for his efforts. The team came out and ran the ball against a solid Patriots run defense, scoring three touchdowns.

Once again, Cook had over 100 rushing yards. He’s the third Bills player to have eight games of over 100 rushing yards in a season.

Halftime adjustments made all the difference for Buffalo

The Bills came out at half looking like an entirely different team, something that Cook brought up in his postgame interview. For Cook, it was nothing fancy that happened at halftime, just understanding the task at hand and needing to execute.

“Throw in our headphones and get back to work,” Cook said.

Buffalo stuck to the game plan in the second half, running the football with Cook and controlling the game. Cook’s mindset was easy to follow; he’s a man of few words and kept things short and sweet throughout his conversation with Mike Garafolo.

“You know, just taking every play, play by play, and just finishing, and that’s what we did today,” Cook said.

Cook has a lot of love for Josh Allen after the win vs. the Patriots

Josh Allen’s fingerprints were all over the game. He’s been getting plenty of praise for his performance, and rightfully so. After having negative passing yards at one point, Allen led the offense on five straight scoring drives in the second half.

“That’s one seven man, I love him to death. And he just shows ya’ll why he’s the best, man,” Cook said about his quarterback.

With the victory, Buffalo still has a shot to win the division. It needs some help with New England losing a game or two and Buffalo winning out, but there’s still a chance. Cook, once again, laid it all out on the line on what Buffalo needs to do to clinch the division.

“Just keep going, just keep going,” Cook said.

James Cook has his eyes set on a Super Bowl

Cook was talking with Dion Dawkins after the game, and something he said caught the attention of Garafolo. AP, PB, SB, he asked Cook what SB meant, knowing full well the answer.

Cook, fully understanding the situation, tossed it back to Garafolo in the best way possible.

“You’ll see at the end,” Cook said.

Cook didn’t overcomplicate the moment, and he didn’t need to. The Bills’ comeback was built on execution and belief, along with a running back who keeps proving he belongs in the conversation among the league’s elite.

The accolades can wait, but performances like this make it clear that Cook is a superstar, and if the rest of the league hasn’t caught on yet, they will soon enough.
