Josh Allen offers brutally honest reality check after Bills’ embarrassing loss to the Dolphins
Quite the response from QB1 after the loss.
The Buffalo Bills got beat down bad against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. Quarterback Josh Allen was not without fault, but he is not solely responsible for the team’s loss. It just feels as though the general manager, Brandon Beane, failed him by not acquiring a top-tier weapon for the offense ahead of the trade deadline.
After the game, Allen was quick to point out his own mistakes, taking full responsibility and shouldering the blame.
That’s what a good franchise quarterback does, and Allen is no different. He finished the day going 28-for-40 for 206 yards with two touchdowns, an interception, and a fumble lost.
Nearly every time the team was marching down the field, Allen and the offense had the drive killed by a costly turnover.
“They came ready to play,” Allen said. “They wanted it, obviously, a little more than us. I gotta be better, I gotta be better in the protection game, in the pass game, in the run game, all of it. Any time you turn it over three times, two in the red zone, or really, you could count that last one, driving kind of going into the red zone. That’s a recipe for disaster.”
Allen was brutally honest with his comments postgame
The reigning MVP was asked about the type of answers the team had at halftime that allowed them to drive down the field and have more success in the second half.
“Yeah, I mean, I just feel like early on just kind of beating ourselves,” Allen said. “Give credit to them for coming out and playing. We just gotta be better.”
He was then asked if it was a surprise for his team to come out like this, especially in a divisional matchup. Allen once again took over the blame with just a few short words.
“I mean, yeah, but again, that starts with me,” Allen said. “I gotta be better, starts with a better week of practice, watch this one and learn from it, get on to next week.”
One of the biggest question marks throughout the season has been the lack of a downfield passing game. Allen was questioned about why it is so difficult to push the ball down the field, and if he thinks the team is doing enough with wide receiver Keon Coleman. Specifically, if he feels Keon is doing enough with the chances he’s been getting.
“I gotta give guys chances [ . . . ] I mean, [Coleman] caught one today, so yeah,” Allen said.
Allen continues to take the blame, but at some point, it can’t just fall on his shoulders. The Bills’ struggles stretch well beyond just QB1. Unless the front office finds real solutions, people might start to question Buffalo’s championship window.
