The Buffalo Bills have a unicorn at quarterback in Josh Allen.

During the win over the Cincinnati Bengals, it was a vintage Allen performance. He did his damage with his arm and legs, ultimately winning the game for Buffalo, thanks also in large part to a huge game from cornerback Christian Benford.

The reigning MVP always seems to save his best games for the biggest moments, and the win against the Bengals in Week 14 was no different.

Allen shines against some of the league’s best quarterbacks

Yes, I understand that neither quarterback is on the field dueling it out at the same time, but Allen has had some of his top performances against some of the best quarterbacks in the league. When the light is shining brightest, Allen rises to the occasion.

One wild stat from the season is further proof that Allen is in a league of his own, and he deserves his flowers in a big way. Say what you want about the inefficiencies on offense, QB1 wipes them all away at times with his stellar performances.

In games against Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and Joe Burrow, Allen put on his Superman cape with some stellar performances, once again reminding the league that he’s in a world of his own.

Allen, in those games, has 1,235 passing yards with a 75% completion percentage with 17 total touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Allen needs to continue that dominance in the postseason

In a season where most of the quarterbacks above might not make the postseason, Allen needs to take full advantage of his opportunities. He’s one of the best statistical quarterbacks in postseason history already, and the team will need Superman to arrive once the playoffs roll around.

Fortunately for the Bills, with their win over the Bengals, they control their own destiny and are sitting pretty in terms of playoff positioning, but there’s still plenty of work that needs to be done.

At the end of the day, Buffalo’s hopes rest on the shoulders of No. 17. If Allen keeps playing at this level, the Bills won’t just sneak into the postseason; they’ll be a team that nobody wants to see once January rolls around.
