The Buffalo Bills’ season ended with heartbreak after a tough loss against the Denver Broncos in the divisional round. Not to dredge up old wounds, but wide receiver Brandin Cooks absolutely caught the ball, and Bills Mafia should be sitting here, potentially talking about watching their beloved team play in the Super Bowl. But they’re not, and here we are.

With the season officially coming to a close, there are a few housekeeping items that the team and general manager Brandon Beane opened up about. One player in particular, rookie cornerback Dorian Strong, had been a topic of conversation all season.

Strong suffered a neck injury during the Bills’ Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints, and now his entire playing career is in serious jeopardy. This could very well be a career-ending injury.

“It’s a very serious deal,” Beane said. “He’s potentially going to have a procedure that will determine whether he can play.”

The news came after new head coach Joe Brady’s introductory press conference, giving fans an inside look at what’s really been going on with Strong. After his injury, the team was silent about the rookie, providing no updates during the 2025 season and leaving fans wondering what’s next.

The sixth-round rookie played well in limited snaps, earning a start in Buffalo’s Week 1 win against the Ravens while taking 51 snaps in the secondary and 10 more on special teams.

Dorian Strong looked impressive in the early stages of 2025

In Weeks 2 through 4, he split time with quarterback Tre’Davious White while racking up tackles and showing more than a little promise in coverage.

It looked like Buffalo had struck gold with another draft pick. That’s until injury struck, which was the name of the game for the 2025 season. Buffalo was ravaged by season-ending injuries that ultimately decided the season. Had the Bills been healthy, we’d be having a different discussion right now about where the Bills are headed.

For now, football takes a back seat. The Bills can worry about roster construction, depth, and draft capital later. The only thing that matters is Strong’s health and future beyond the game.

He showed enough in a short window to believe he belonged in the NFL, and everyone inside One Bills Drive is hoping this isn’t how the story ends. Whether he plays another snap or not, the rookie already earned the respect of his teammates and a fan base that will be pulling hard for him in the months ahead.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery and some good news surrounding Strong and his injury.
