Tom Brady opens up on special “gift” he got from Bills Mafia during his return to Buffalo in Week 17
Bills Mafia, never change.
Former New England quarterback Tom Brady returned to Western New York for the first time since his playing days to call the Bills and Eagles Week 17 contest.
It was an ugly game for about 90% of the contest, with the offense for Buffalo struggling to get anything going until late in the fourth quarter. Despite an awful performance, Buffalo had a chance to win the game on a two-point conversion but fell just flat.
Tom Brady gets a gift from the Bills Mafia
Needless to say, the fanbase isn’t a big fan of Brady even after all these years. His counterpart, Kevin Burkhardt, asked about Brady’s return and what it meant for him.
“You know, you’re back in Buffalo as a broadcaster, good for you to be back here,” Burkhardt said. “Did you get a nice warm embrace?”
With Brady’s return, he opened up about a special “gift” that he was given by the Bills Mafia, and it’s beyond hilarious.
“Oh, warm embrace. A lot of people were [ . . . ] that one finger salute they were giving me as I looked down from the press booth,” Brady responded. “Kind of reminded me how much they enjoyed me coming to town, I guess.”
Kevin Burkhardt hilariously offered, “(They) said you’re number one.”
Tom Brady ran roughshod in the division
The Bills Mafia won’t soon forget the damage that Brady did in the division over the years, especially against the Buffalo Bills. He was 33-3 in games against Buffalo in regular-season games he started.
What’s more, at one point during the drought, Brady had more touchdowns in Highmark Stadium, formerly known as Ralph Wilson Stadium, than Bills quarterbacks did. Brady was that good, and it was annoying as a fan of the team during that time.
That history is exactly why the reception never softened. Brady may be retired, but the scars from two decades of dominance remain fresh in Western New York. Even in the broadcast booth, Bills Mafia made sure he remembered – some rivalries never find, they just find new ways to show up.
