The Carolina Panthers embodied the phrase "out with the old, in with the new". Their approach this offseason was to rid themselves of the old guard and bad habits that have plagued them as a franchise. Adding new with general manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales.

This new front office will have its first big test of the offseason and NFL Draft season this week with the NFL Scouting Combine. They must figure out their plan of action and execute it. From player interviews, to how they value on-field testing and official measurements. The main thing will be how can they help find the players that'll increase Bryce Young's chances to elevate his game in 2024.

This team cannot afford to reach for sub-par college prospects as they have in the past. Identify the identity of the offense and defense. Then, decide the positions of need for both sides of the football. This will give the Panthers much better odds at having a more successful draft than the previous years under Matt Rhule and Frank Reich.

Team building is a nuanced task and teams get it wrong every year in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers absolutely cannot afford another failed offseason of team building with free agency and the NFL Draft. The hope is, that this new regime has its ducks in a row and is ready to turn this franchise around, starting this week in Indianapolis at the Combine. Time to be intentional with their decisions and roster moves.
