Dan Morgan and Dave Canales may have tipped their hand regarding the wide receiver they want to pair with quarterback Bryce Young in the 2024 NFL season.

The Carolina Panthers met with University of South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette twice at the 2024 Senior Bowl, according to The Athletic.

Legette is an intriguing prospect. He has NFL connections and recently worked out with San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel. He could also be the perfect antidote to a depressed Panthers passing game.

Legette is projected to be a third-round talent in the 2024 NFL Draft by scouts. He has an intriguing blend of size at 6-foot-1, 223 pounds, and speed.

In 2023, he was a second-team All-ACC player. He recorded 71 catches, 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.

His work at the line of scrimmage needs work. He lacks the burst that can help create instant space. However, he makes up for it with downfield speed.

Young didn't have a receiver who could effectively stretch the field during his rookie season. The Panthers looking to add Legette could be an attempt to find an answer.

He would be a project still at the NFL level. But with ready-made size, teaching the technicalities would be an easy part for Canales and his staff.
