It appears the Chicago Bears are set to have a pivotal nationally televised game this upcoming season against the reigning NFC North Champions.

According to a schedule release leak detailing all of the upcoming holiday games in 2024, the Bears will be facing the Detroit Lions as one of the three games taking place on Thanksgiving Day in Week 13.

This will be a major divisional game for both sides in the second half of the season that could have huge implications toward the end of the season.

The Bears are 20-15-2 in Thanksgiving games and have won have won three straight Thanksgiving games against the Lions. The most recent occurred in 2021 with the Bears coming away with a 16-14 win in Detroit.

The Bears and Lions split the head-to-head series in 2024 with the Bears defeating the Lions at Soldier Field in Week 14. As for the Lions, Dan Campbell's squad lost in disappointing fashion on Thanksgiving Day to the Green Bay Packers in 2023 and the team as whole have not won on the holiday since 2016, losing 7 such games in a row.

The defending NFC champs are expected to once again be a hungry team entering 2024 after coming just shy of reaching the Super Bowl last season. With all their new paid stars and returning offensive coordinator, this will be a scary team for the Bears and the rest of the league to face this season.

This game will also be a revenge game for newly signed Bears' running back D'Andre Swift who will be returning to Detroit for the first time since being traded. Swift was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2020 draft and was traded prior to the 2023 season to the Philadelphia Eagles. Detroit went a different direction at running back, drafting the dynamic Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 draft.

The other rumored games expected to take place on Thanksgiving Day will be the Dallas Cowboys hosting the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers hosting the Miami Dolphins. Therefore, 3 NFC North teams will be featured on national television.
