In less than three weeks, the 2025 NFL Draft will kick off in Green Bay and we're starting to get somewhat of an idea about who the Chicago Bears could be targeting, at least, the type of prospects the team is looking to add.
With this latest mock draft, I used what we learned from the NFL League Meetings last week along with some recent Top-30 visits to build out the team's potential class.
Doing so would give head coach Ben Johnson the ideal offensive personnel and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen some needed depth on defense. Here's what that draft could potentially look like.
1st Round – 10th Overall Pick: Tyler Warren, TE Penn State
Based on what we heard during the NFL League Meetings from Ben Johnson and Ryan Poles, this seems like the ideal pick given the probabilities at this selection.
Adding Tyler Warren to this offense gives Ben Johnson another dynamic to the offense to use in terrorizing opposing defenses, at least that's how defensive coordinator Dennis Allen sees the top tight end prospect.
Ben Johnson ran the highest rate of 12 personnel in 2024 with the Lions, so he's more than capable of getting Warren and Cole Kmet involved in his developing scheme.
2nd Round – 39th Overall Pick: Kenneth Grant, DT Michigan
This seems very unlikely, but the board will work in mysterious ways once the draft rolls around. Over the past few days, multiple notable draft experts have been mocking Kenneth Grant to the Bears with this pick, so don't rule it out.
Grant is the ideal scheme fit in Chicago and long-term defensive tackle to take over after Grady Jarrett's time is up. In the meantime, he'll be a fierce threat on the interior.
Seeing the high presence led by both Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen at the Michigan Pro Day makes me believe the team has their eye on a few different former Wolverine defenders. Grant makes too much sense if he's there. But, it's a big if.
2nd Round – 41st Overall Pick: TreVeyon Henderson, RB Ohio State
As we get closer and closer to the draft, TreVeyon Henderson's name continues to be connected to the Bears and if that smokes real, I could see Chicago selecting him higher than the 41st overall selection.
But, for the purpose of this mock, I'll snag Henderson around his current draft projection in the second-round.
Henderson's fit in Chicago will be intriguing to see play out if this pick happens. He has a similar play style to D'Andre Swift but aligns more closely to what Ben Johnson had in Detroit with Jahmyr Gibbs, with some added ability as a pass protector too.
3rd Round – 72nd Overall Pick: Ozzy Trapilo, OT Boston College
For this pick, it's all Ryan Poles. The Bears general manager continues to bring up wanting to add more competition to the left tackle position beyond Braxton Jones and Kiran Amegadjie and why not go back to his alma mater?
Ozzy Trapilo is an enticing late Day 2 target at the position who held up very well during his time at Boston College across both tackle positions.
While Trapilo looked stronger on the right side over the last two years, teams seem to in interested in moving him back to the left side. Even if he doesn't start right away over Braxton Jones, he'll have a full season to develop before taking over.
5th Round – 148th Overall Pick: Dylan Fairchild, IOL Georgia
As for the interior of the front, now let's add a future guy Ben Johnson would love in Dylan Fairchild. At Georgia, Fairchild mainly played left guard at a high level given his energy and ability to reach the second level in the run game.
He's the ideal depth guy to have behind Joe Thuney, who won't be around for long given his age and contract with the Bears. The Bears are already showing interest in this guy after bringing him in for a Top-30 visit ahead of the draft.
7th Round – 233rd Overall Pick: Kain Medrano, LB UCLA
If you've been following any of my recent mocks, you'll know this is a draft crush of mine for the Bears to draft on Day 3 and I will continue to have him in my mock drafts. Kain Medrano was a solid contributor at UCLA on defense and special teams.
With the Bears, he can be a fast rising defender given his speed and athleticism, although he's still a little undersized. He's an ideal developmental talent to take a swing on who would also see the field early and often on the Bears special teams unit.
7th Round – 240th Overall Pick: Dean Clark, S Fresno State
Finally, I couldn't leave this draft without taking a safety at some point and ended up with Dean Clark with the team's last selection in the seventh-round.
Similar to at linebacker, the Bears have two established starters and a few depth pieces in-house, which means you're betting on the upside here. Clark certainly is full of that. During the Fresno State Pro Day, Clark had impressive numbers and has some upside playing all across the field on defense.
NFL analyst Maurice Jones-Drew reveals which RB prospect Bears Eric Bieniemy might be leaning towards in the 2025 Draft
This is quite the development.
