Well, thanks to the Chicago Bears' decision to draft Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, the Colts didn't have to worry about making what would've been a very questionable trade in order to get their guy. Just about everyone considered Warren to be TE1 in this draft, so it was a bit of a surprise to see Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson go in a different direction.
Don't get it twisted: The Bears' decision to draft Loveland is an excellent one, as he gives Caleb Williams and the passing attack a guy that can dominate down the field via seam routes/just over the middle in general, as well as in the red zone. He doesn't just win over the middle, though. He can win at all three levels of the field, which should add a whole new dynamic to the Bears' passing attack.
It's funny how the draft can turn out. It's certainly a domino effect that can either help a team get their guy, like the Colts and Warren, or it can take it from a team in an instant. Either way, it's safe to say both teams are coming out of this deal in a very good spot that should help them in both the short and long term.
