The Chicago Bears got a massive morale win after the bye week against the Washington Commanders, but not without taking some losses as well in Week 6.

Linebacker Noah Sewell left the game early with a concussion, but fortunately, the team had linebacker T.J. Edwards back for the first time since Week 2. Then, after the game, a strange situation happened with veteran wide receiver DJ Moore.

Moore finished the game and played a total of 60 offensive snaps, including seven consecutive plays on the final drive to set up the winning field goal. After the kick, Moore was seen celebrating going off the field, but it was later reported that Moore left the stadium in an ambulance and spent the night in D.C. to receive extra medical attention, with no specific reason given.

Ben Johnson finally shares an update on DJ Moore while speaking to reporters on Tuesday

“It was precautionary. I think we got some good news in that regard,” Johnson said during his weekly interview with ESPN1000. “He should be coming back today (to Chicago). I think he’ll be day-to-day going forward. It was a groin deal that he was dealing with, I think we’re going to be ok.”

All things considered, that’s great news because it didn’t sound great when the reports came out that Moore was sticking around and having to go to the hospital after the game, but kudos to Moore for sticking it out through all four quarters.

It’s hard to say when the injury happened. Moore took a hit during the first quarter and limped to the sideline after not being able to pick up a third-and-20 conversion. In the second quarter, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin added Moore was showing some discomfort after taking a hit to the midsection.

The veteran pass catcher had five touches for 52 yards on the night and was an active blocker in the run game and for his fellow pass catchers trying to make something happen after the catch.

With a short week coming up, Moore’s status will be one to watch as a “day-to-day” injury. The Bears will face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, back in Chicago, with a noon kickoff, and the team will resume practicing later in the week. We’ll see how his availability looks and what decision gets made for his status in Week 7.
