After dominating the defending Super Bowl champs on the road to improve to 9-3 on the season, one year after firing their former head coach, you’d think Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has already done enough to win over the city.

But, one thing was still needed from the team’s head coach to truly win over the fanbase and it had nothing to do with how his offense and overall team looked on the field.

A few weeks back, a local Chicago restaurant known as The Wieners Circle, posted on social media that if the Bears win a game this year and Johnson takes his shirt off in the postgame celebration, the restaurant will give away hot dogs. When asked about the bizarre request back in late October, Johnson’s response made it seem like that wouldn’t happen.

“That’s been mentioned. A little disturbing,” Johnson told reporters. “Why would we want to see that? Any comment? I’m a man of the people. Time will tell.”

Just when his actions, or lack thereof, over the last four game win streak proved it wouldn’t happen, Johnson finally gave the fans the moment they were waiting for.

Ben Johnson has brought entirely new life into the Chicago Bears

With the win over the Eagles on Black Friday, the Bears continue to hold the top position in the NFC North and moved up to the No. 2 seed in the conference trailing the 9-2 Los Angeles Rams, who will play the Carolina Panthers this upcoming weekend.

Friday was easily the team’s biggest win of the season. All year, many have questioned the validity of the Bears’ start to the season and the quality of opponents the team has played against. Chicago answered all of those questions with this nine-point win in Philadelphia on a national stage.

“It’s hard to go on the road and beat a good team like that,” Johnson told reporters after the game. “And yet, I think they still know we have got to get back to work next week. We’re very pleased with where we’re at, we’ll be able to enjoy it for a couple of days, and then we’ll be right back to work and onto the next one. Because that’s where we’re at in the season. But, really happy with how this one went today.”

That kind of mindset of keeping the main thing the main thing is exactly why the Bears are in the position they’re in after Week 13 and why Johnson is having so much success in his first season as a head coach. Chicago deserves this, and their free hot dogs.
