In Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams cemented himself as the team's best rookie QB in franchise history and he's only played five games.

During the Week 5 win at Soldier Field, Williams surpassed the 300-yard mark through the air for the second time in five games.

Williams is the Bears first rookie quarterback to accomplish the feat multiple times. In fact, every other Bears rookie QBs in franchise history have combined for only two such games.

Williams had his best game as a passer in Week 5 in terms of his overall efficiency. While he threw for more yards in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts, he did so on 52 pass attempts. On Sunday, Williams threw for 304 yards on 29 pass attempts while adding 34 yards on the ground.

According to CBS, Williams is also the first Bears rookie to win three of his first five starts over the last 20 years. What he's doing is something Bears fans have never seen before out of a first year quarterback.

Seeing what he's been able to do with this offensive scheme while being thrown into the fire from Day 1 has been even more impressive.

"He knows that this is his first year," head coach Matt Eberflus explained. "He's going to face a lot of different things, different looks, different defense coverages, know what he can do and can't do, but still keep everything in there and he's just learning and growing. And you can see that, you know that in the course of these games that we've had, and he needs to continue to grow."

Williams and the Bears' offense took their first big jump forward in Week 5 totaling over 400 yards of offense. Williams was decisive with the football and played a clean operation for all four quarters, which is exactly what you'd like to see out of him.

"I think the most important thing is understanding," Williams said after the win. "I've talked about it multiple times, understanding what the team needs and taking what the defense gives you. I think today, we did that. I think today, overall the offense, I think we did a tremendous job. I think that's definitely how we want to play."

As Williams gets more reps and looks under his belt through the upcoming games, the unit will continue to move forward and evolve. He's already off to a great start and more records await him if he can continue on this path he's created.
