The Chicago Bears Week 2 matchup was a punishing night for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams lining up behind a struggling pass protection unit.

The first overall pick finished the night being pressured a total of 36 times while being sacked seven times in the 19-13 loss.

After the game, Houston Texans sophomore quarterback and reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud shared some kind words with Williams while meeting up midfield after the game concluded.

"Good job out there, bro. Stop taking those hits," Stroud said to Williams. "Learn from those mistakes and everything that you got is in you already. You're going to be a hell of a player in this league."

The encouraging words from a fellow young and rising star was great to see during the first of many interactions between Williams and Stroud. And Stroud couldn't be more honest and Stroud understanding of what Williams is currently going through.

Like Williams, Stroud was a top pick in the draft forced into the spotlight after having to start the season for the Texans as a rookie last season, and it wasn't an easy start. Stroud started his NFL career 0-2 out of the gate and had 11 sacks in those games. He then went on to lead his team to a division title and the second round of the playoffs.

The Bears are hoping for a similar outcome, even after such a tough loss and Stroud's words will surely resonate will Williams throughout the rest of the season. After the rough game, Williams admitted he's a little bruised up but understands in the NFL you have to keep moving forward.

“Everything’s about the response,” Williams said. “It’s Week 2. I’m a young guy but I understand it’s a long season.”

That's the kind of the mindset you love to see out of your young quarterback and now it's up to Williams and the rest of the offense to get on the same page in order to right the ship going into Week 3.
