Despite a rocky season from the Chicago Bears as a whole, tight end Cole Kmet took a massive leap in 2022. An Illinois native, Kmet knows what a winning Bears team looks like.
Not only will Kmet be a critical piece to the offense in the upcoming season, but his locker room presence is especially key with so many new faces in Halas Hall.
Kmet knows the pain and suffering Bears fans have gone through in the last couple of seasons. After all, he grew up a Bears fan in a time period that didn’t include a ton of major success in Chicago.
With that being said, there is a new vibe with the Bears ahead of 2023. With new additions come heightened expectations, and that is not something Kmet is shying away from.
“It’s okay to have high expectations,” Kmet said via CHGO Bears Podcast. “I think we have high expectations for ourselves and we’re not straying away from that. So we’re excited about what we got going on here and we want the pressure, we want the expectations and we’re looking forward to see what we can do this upcoming year.”
After finishing in the basement of the NFL just a season ago, Chicago isn’t receiving much buzz entering Justin Fields’ second season as the full-time starter. However with a revamped offense and a much more competent group of pass catchers, Kmet and the offense is poised to make plenty of noise in a weakened NFC North.
