We have already seen the Chicago Bears trade down from the No. 1 overall spot in this year's draft.

Could we see another?

The Draft Network's Justin Melo made it a reality in his recent mock draft

It worked pretty well for the Bears in this scenario.

In the trade, they received the No. 17 overall pick, No. 49 overall, and a 2024 second-round pick.

At No. 17, they ended up with Tennessee right tackle, Darnell Wright

This move makes a lot of sense for the Bears.

Head Coach Matt Eberflus did come out and say that Braxton Jones showed promise during his 17 games at left tackle as a rookie last season.

Teven Jenkins moved to guard following an injury sustained in training camp, and he seemed to have found a home there. He played in 13 games with 11 starts at guard throughout last season, missing four games with a neck injury.

General manager Ryan Poles believes the move to guard was in Jenkins' best interest and the team's best interest. He said, "I think that's where he is going to continue to excel.

So with Jenkins moved to guard, the addition of Nate Davis in the off-season to shore up the interior, and Lucas Patrick (or Cody Whitehair) playing center, that only leaves one spot open.

Could they stay put and take Paris Johnson, the offensive tackle from Ohio State? Perhaps, but he has only taken snaps at right tackle back in 2020, and he only took seven in 2022. He was predominantly a right guard and left tackle in college.

The trade back for Wright makes all too much sense for the Bears. It is the one position on Chicago's offensive line that has immediate question marks. Wright answers those and should be a Day 1 starter in 2023.
