The Chicago Bears are gearing up for the first game of the final four week stretch against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday looking to get back in the win column in front of the home crowd.

Conditions are expected to be brutal at Soldier Field and with a three-win team coming to town, it would be easy to overlook this game, but that’s not been the case throughout the entirety of the week.

The Bears are well aware of the challenge coming to town with this Browns’ team and understand the position they’re sitting in at 9-4 on the season with hopes of reaching the postseason. Everything we’ve seen this week has shown Chicago is approaching this game the right way and the team got another encouraging development on Friday with the final injury reports now released for both sides.

As expected, nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon will be out of action for a second consecutive game after injuring his groin during warmups ahead of the Week 14 loss. Earlier in the week, head coach Ben Johnson didn’t sound optimistic about Gordon’s injury and potential availability down the stretch, but it’s worth noting the team hasn’t placed him back on the injured reserve, yet.

The real question mark to watch is the status of wide receiver Rome Odunze. Odunze missed last week’s game as well with a foot injury and it was later reported that the team’s leading receiver was dealing with a stress fracture that could take weeks to heal. After missing one game, Odunze was limited in each day of practice and was listed as questionable, although the smart thing might be to sit him out another week.

As for an encouraging sign, the Bears will have cornerback Tyrique Stevenson back in action for the first time since Week 12. Meaning Sunday will be the first game since Week 2 in which the Bears had Stevenson, Jaylon Johnson, and Nahshon Wright available on the outside.

Quite the lengthy injury report for Cleveland going into the weekend with six different players already ruled out and the status of six others still up in the air.

The Browns will for sure be without starting cornerback Denzel Ward on defense and down two starters on offense in guard Wyatt Teller and tight end David Njoku. Being without rookie running back Dylan Sampson will be a massive blow to the team’s screen game as well.

But, this is a young team that still has some dangerous players. The biggest weakness will be the Browns’ offensive line for Chicago to target based on the amount of injuries. This is shaping out to be a very favorable matchup for the defensive line to bring some pressure against a rookie quarterback.
