The early returns from the Bears’ trade for WR N’Keal Harry haven’t quite been what the team was hoping for.
After leaving practice on Saturday with an ankle injury, the Bears have placed Harry on injured reserve. This designation means that he will miss a minimum of four games to open the season.
Chicago acquired the former first-rounder from the New England Patriots in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
After acquiring Harry in July he underwent an ankle procedure after suffering a high-ankle sprain on August 11. The surgery was expected to sideline him for around eight weeks.
The news is certainly disappointing for the Bears, who are short on talent at the receiver position. However, it’s not the end of the world.
The hope is to get Harry back for the Bears’ Week 5 contest on the road against its NFC North foe in the Minnesota Vikings, though it's more likely he returns in November.
Harry’s absence won’t be all that noticeable so long as Darnell Mooney, Byron Pringle, Equanimeous St. Brown, and rookie Velus Jones Jr. all manage to stay healthy.
