The Chicago Bears have received significant impacts from the rookie class over the second-half of the season and it’s no secret that played a role in the team’s 11-6 record and eventual playoff game coming up this weekend.

General manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson absolutely hit the ball out of the park when you think of the roles that Colston Loveland, Kyle Monangai, Luther Burden III, and Ozzy Trapilo have played on this team. Not to mention the contributions from Jahdae Walker, Luke Newman, and Ruben Hyppolite II as well.

The one rookie many might have forgotten about is fifth-round cornerback Zah Frazier, who missed the entirety of training camp and was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, ending his rookie season. But, he’s still a player the Bears have high hopes for in 2026 and he just posted an encouraging update on social media.

Since the end of rookie minicamp, the only thing we knew about Frazier’s absence was that he was dealing with a personal matter that occurred before he got to Chicago, at least that was the phrasing used by Poles and the coaching staff.

On Thursday, we finally got the first update from the former UTSA standout, who announced he’s medically cleared on his Snapchat.

Ahead of the NFL draft, Frazier is a prospect that defensive backs coach Al Harris pounded the table advocating for. During rookie minicamp, Frazier made some splash plays showing off his lengthy frame that the Bears covet in this scheme.

It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to see him in 2025 considering all of the injuries at the position, which opened the door for a player like Nahshon Wright to get a massive opportunity and make the most of it. Looking ahead to 2026, Frazier is a player we could see in that role opposite Jaylon Johnson.

“Here’s another guy that’s a young, developmental corner. He’s got a lot of things that he’s gotta learn but again he’s got the tools for us to work with,” defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said of Frazier back in rookie minicamp. “Who better to work with him than Al Harris. A guy that’s got a similar frame and played a long time in this league and had a lot of success. We’re excited about getting the opportunity to work with him and helping him grow.”

Throughout the 2025 season, Frazier was still able to attend meetings, workout, and work with the medical staff. Now that he’s medically cleared, hopefully he can hit the ground running in 2025.
