ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning that Colts offensive lineman Eric Fisher is set to hit free agency after weeks of negotiations with the Indianapolis front office failed to produce an agreement.

Most know the Bears are looking to improve their offensive line this offseason. Whether it be through free agency or the draft.

Could Fisher be a fit for the Bears?

The former Pro Bowler is a coming off a one-year deal with the Colts. Fisher was average at best in 2021, but he was also dealing with the aftereffects of Achilles surgery. In fact, he was rendered inactive for the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. He also missed the Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders with knee, shoulder, and toe injuries.

Pro Football Focus has Fisher's value at $16 million per year. Spotrac.com doesn't have a market value for the former Chief and Colt, so it's hard to determine what his true value is. No playoffs and a fully healthy offseason in 2022 is thought to be behind the spike in Fisher's price range after playing for $8.3 million in 2021.

If Fisher is healthy, there's little reason to doubt he can return to the same form that saw him make the Pro Bowl during two of his last three seasons in Kansas City.

Would that interest the Bears, at all? Probably so.

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy will likely deploy the zone scheme he was so familiar with in Green Bay. Fisher had his best years in Kansas City's zone scheme and likely fits well in Getsy's scheme. Fisher would also man the left tackle position, which would allow Teven Jenkins to grow at right tackle. It's well documented the Bears are trying to figure out what's best for Jenkins. Fisher could help push them in the right direction.

Overall Fisher is a good match in terms of fit.

But is he in terms of price? That's for Ryan Poles to decide. The Bears have some money to spend, but signing Fisher will require a multi-year deal and he's 31-years-old heading into this year. However, he's likely cheaper than Terron Armstead, who will be 31 when the season starts. Spotrac.com has Armstead's value at a whopping $23.9 million per year.

At the end of the day, Fisher is just another option for the Bears. But hey, they need all the options they can get when it comes to fixing the offensive line.
