The 2025 NFL Draft invite cycle continues to roll on with top prospects set to meet with teams around the league with less than three weeks until the draft kicks off.
The Chicago Bears have been active at getting Top-30 visits lined up with various prospects, including first-round options and potential UDFA targets as well.
On Tuesday, a familiar name joined the Bears Top-30 list as a potential second-round option who would bring some high-level depth to the offensive line.
Bears Scheduled Visit With Jonah Savaiinaea
The interest is definitely real in Arizona offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea. After having a formal meeting with him a few weeks back at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Bears are interested in having another look at the intriguing offensive line prospect.
What makes Savaiinaea so fascinating as a prospect is his ability to play multiple positions on the offensive front. Savaiinaea made 16 starts at right tackle, 15 starts at right guard, and 5 starts at left tackle during his three seasons at Arizona.
I enjoyed Jonah Savaiinaea's tape, but it was evident early on that his best position for the next level is inside at guard. While there are things that can suggest he could play tackle at the next level, it's not ideally suited for him and wouldn't be where he is best at.However, there's a quality starter in Jonah Savaiinaea, in my opinion. I'm optimistic about his growth year over year, and his hand placement, play strength, frame, and awareness give him a great floor as an NFL offensive lineman." – A to Z Sports' A.J. Schulte
Given his power, moving Savaiinaea would be a strong move and something that would easily entice Ben Johnson in Chicago. The only problem is finding a spot for him to play at in Year 1.
The Bears are set at right tackle with Darnell Wright and just brought in two guards in Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. Perhaps the Bears project him on the left side as someone who could compete with Braxton Jones and Kiran Amegadjie at left tackle. Which is something the team could look into during this second visit.
However, the Bears aren't the only NFC North team doing their due diligence on Savaiinaea ahead of the draft. The Minnesota Vikings are also bringing him in for a Top-30 visit and the Detroit Lions met with him at the Combine as well.
The Bears hold the 39th and 41st overall picks in the second-round, which would be around the range Savaiinaea is expected to be selected at.
