The Chicago Bears saw a familiar sight back at practice on Friday for the first time in weeks.

Bears starting quarterback Justin Fields returned to the practice field and officially was listed as a limited participant ahead of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Today was the first day Fields was back on the practice field since suffering a dislocated right thumb against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6.

Fields was spotted throwing the ball at practice, which is incredible progression for the team's starter who couldn't even grip the football (let alone throw it downfield) just a couple of days ago.

Fields was officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Saints, according to the team's final injury report released on Friday. The designation likely signals that undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent will be making his third career start, but it seems like Fields will be back sooner than later.

"[Fields is] doubtful right now, and we're just letting progress as it goes," head coach Matt Eberflus said on Friday. "That's where we put it right now. So, it's it's good to see him throughout the day for sure."

In terms of Fields' availability next Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, the team's head coach will give his quarterback the opportunity to make the decision whether he can play or not.

"Yeah, that's really dependent on just where his pain tolerance is when he throws and then also the functionality," Eberflus added. "Where it goes from there, that's the day to day and how the trainers say he is."

Eberflus mentioned that Fields is healing up nicely along with the the swelling and grip strength starting to improve. Therefore, it sounds unlikely that we'll see Fields suit up on Sunday, but Thursday's game could certainly be a real possibility in terms of making his return as the starting quarterback.
