CHICAGO – The Chicago Bears are one step closer to having all 12 picks from the 2022 draft class under contract.

Kyler Gordon, the team's first pick of the draft, signed his rookie deal on Saturday. Now, the Bears have 11 of 12 draft picks inked and ready to go.

The only player that remains unsigned is the Bears' other second-round pick, safety Jaquan Brisker.

Gordon has impressed his coaches so far during the offseason, drawing praise for his efforts on the field as well as his ball skills.

“Kyler’s been lighting it up the last two days, I’ll just tell you that,” Eberflus told reporters back in May. “The guy’s got tremendous ball skills, he’s been playing the defense the right way. And we’re very impressed with him.

“He’s got a lot to learn, but we’re excited where he is with his ballhawking skills.”

Gordon is expected to compete -and win- the Bears No. 2 cornerback job. However, his versatility allows him to play on the outside and in the slot, so it'll be interesting to see how he's used in 2022.

And now, the Bears -and Bears fans- can rest easy knowing Gordon's under contract and will be ready to go when rookies report to Bears training camp on July 23.
