In sports it’s often said that practice makes perfect. The Chicago Bears’ passing attack was far from perfect in 2022, but head coach Matt Eberflus is placing a major emphasis on practice repetitions for what was the NFL’s worst aerial attack just a season ago.

At Tuesday’s NFL owners meetings in Arizona, Eberflus outlined his plan for the offseason. He noted that the team will spend more time working with Justin Fields and his new arsenal of pass catchers in the next few months.

The Bears’ offseason workout program doesn’t officially begin until April 17, but Eberflus plans to incorporate more passing in OTAs. He also wants the team to experience more 7-on-7 work and two-minute drills, which create high-leverage passing situations.

Chicago averaged a measly 130.5 passing yards per game last season, which was nearly 30 yards shy of the Atlanta Falcons who finished 31st in the NFL with 158.8 YPG.

Fields showed some flashes with downfield throws at times last year. With an improved offensive line, along with D.J. Moore on the outside, there are no excuses for this group to finish near the bottom of the league again.
