The Chicago Bears just can’t catch a break.
Not only are the Bears losing games left and right, but key players are dropping like flies due to injuries.
On Monday, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that Darnell Mooney, who leads the team in receiving yards, will be out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.
Mooney was one of many Bears that left Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with an injury.
Unfortunately, Tuesday would carry a similar tune with the team announcing that star safety Eddie Jackson will be joining Mooney on injured reserve with a foot injury.
Jackson’s foot injury was of the non-contact variety, which occurred on Garrett Wilson’s 54-yard touchdown catch as time was winding down in the second quarter.
While Chicago has yet to rule Jackson out for the season, it seems far-fetched for the team to bring him back after the mandatory four-game stint on IR, especially with nothing left to play for.
In a corresponding move, the Bears signed veteran free-agent safety Adrian Colbert , per his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Chicago has also elevated rookie safety A.J. Thomas from the team’s practice squad to its active roster.
