The Chicago Bears are on the precipice of repeating history that everyone could have seen coming going into the 2024 season.
Following another disappointing loss in front of their home crowd, frustrations have never been higher for the Bears and the fans in Chicago.
The Bears' coaching staff has been an utter embarrassment and the players have lost all desire to play for the current staff.
That's not what anyone expected to see after 10 weeks from a roster this talented with all of the expectations going into the season. Now, the reality is starting to set in that the Bears are going to have break the cycle by repeating and making history in the process.
It's well known that the Bears have never fired a head coach during the middle of the season. It's also well known that the last two coaches fired by the Bears were fired during a rookie quarterback's first season. After Sunday's 16-point loss to the 2-win New England Patriots where the Bears were 6-point favorites at home, it's due time for the front office to make another change.
Head coach Matt Eberflus has completely lost this team and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron has no answer for an offense that has consistently spun their wheels despite the high level of talent. Neither coach should survive after this game.
The Bears' offense loaded with a top rookie quarterback, a dual-threat back, a trio of top wide receivers, and a top tight end has been held to zero touchdowns over the last two games. To make things worse, Williams has been sacked 6+ times over the last two games, including nine sacks against the Patriots.
From here on out, the Bears have the toughest remaining schedule in the league and sit at 4-5 on the season. Even one game back from .500, this looks like a season that's already over for the Bears and one that will go down as one of the most disappointing seasons in team history.
At this point, there's no way you could possibly get any worse by making a change. And if the front office doesn't do it, the owners should be the ones to do it.
