Bears QB Caleb Williams is taking Ben Johnson’s message to heart by getting involved outside of football later this week
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams plans to enjoy the early days of the offseason.
The Chicago Bears are riding high off an 11-6 season that included a postseason run and a division title, so it’s safe to say vibes are peaking in Chicago going into 2026.
As for the Bears, the team plans to go back to square one with some high expectations for the upcoming season to build on the success the team had this past season.
Even though the Bears are dialed in for improvement, head coach Ben Johnson did offer some sound advice for his quarterback, Caleb Williams, that not many expected to hear.
“We had a good exit interview. Just my main message to him was he needs to get out of football for a little bit,” Johnson said. “He’s done a phenomenal job in terms of staying focused all year long… It’s important for really all of us coaches, players, support staff — we get away for a little bit. We hit the reset button. I think everyone needs that here at this point.”
Williams has taken that message to heart and outside of attending a few Chicago sporting events, he’s been relatively out of the public eye since the season ended. That will change later this week.
Caleb Williams set to compete in the Celebrity 3-Point Contest
On Friday, the NBA will begin the 2026 All-Star weekend festivities and part of the weekend slate includes the celebrity 3-point contest. The names have now been revealed for the event with Williams among the eight competitors that will be stepping onto the court.
- Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams
- NBA analyst Richard Jefferson
- Oklahoma City guard Jared McCain
- BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester
- Comedian and influencer Druski
- Streamer and entertainer PlaqueBoyMax
It’ll be great to see Williams back in the public eye again and having a little fun during his offseason. And the other competitors better be on notice because Williams has that clutch play-making gene and could hit a late 3-pointer to win the competition.
The NBA’s 3-point contest and slam dunk contest will all be held on Saturday with the actual All-Star Championship scheduled for Sunday. So, it’s set to be a loaded weekend at the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
