Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is catching some heat over a recent quote, but he shouldn't be.
Fields appeared on the "Pardon My Take" podcast this week and he revealed that there's one thing he doesn't like about playing in Chicago.
He's not a big fan of the cold weather.
The former Ohio State quarterback said it was a tough adjustment for him — especially the wind.
Fields also said on the podcast that he hopes the Bears get a dome when they build their new stadium (which won't be until 2026ish at the earliest).
I've seen plenty of folks giving Fields a hard time over that comment.
But I don't understand why.
It's much easier to play football in a climate-controlled dome. I don't care how tough you think you are — football players will be more productive in 65-degree temps than 15 degrees.
The wind makes things challenging for quarterbacks, too.
Fields loves being in Chicago. He wants the Bears to be "his team". Nothing about his comment changes that. He just doesn't want to freeze to death while he's playing football. I'd bet that most players in the NFL feel the same — even if they don't admit it publicly.
